DENVER (CBS4)- A Federal Grand Jury has indicted a Denver man on charges of taking bribes in return for falsifying driver’s license exams.

Dennis Sieving, 53, is accused of taking $50 payments from applicants, then falsifying the written and driving exam results.

Sieving worked at the American Driving Academy office in Arvada. Many who received licenses through Sieving lived in low income housing and did not speak English.

On his Facebook page, Sieving claimed he was being investigated because people from other countries had lied about their addresses on his paperwork.

1,500 people had their licenses taken away as part of the probe.

“I remember being so nervous for my driving test and having to do it again even though I’ve been driving. It’s so frustrating,” said Callan Bechter.

The American Driving Academy has apologized to its students by phone, “It saddens everyone at American Driving Academy that this one instructor has hurt you in this way.”
Sieving is scheduled to make another court appearance later this month at which time he’ll be asked to enter a plea.
